Reflections
- Wikispace: Through the use of applications such as PowToon, podcast, screencast-o-matic, and wikispaces I was able to create a technology rich lesson on Distance Rate Time word problems. In any course it is important to attempt to reach all learning styles so using multiple technologies is key. Within the mini-lesson the objectives, a link to the assignment, and a lesson play layout is provided for ease of use by either a teacher or a student. Another aspect I felt was important to include was a link to an additional video, created by me. This additional video has an example for students to complete if they wish to or if the teacher wishes them too.
- Sociology 101: I created this course using the LMS HaikuLearning.com for another course final project. Haiku is a wonderful site with some amazing potential for course building. Only the first 5 weeks of material is provided along with a syllabus. The site has a user friendly interface with links from page to page. I used a multitude of design elements such as PowToon, Prezi, and audio. One of the key elements of Haiku that i liked was its ability to create discussions as well as assessments within the LMS. Thanks to this component it is easy to assess students and update grades.
