ETEC 530 - Leadership in Technology and Media
Examines the role of leadership as it relates to the implementation of educational technologies and media. Theory, knowledge, and skills necessary to use, evaluate, plan, manage, and implement technologies effectively. Administrative issues associated with computers, including security and cyber-ethics.
Student Learning Outcome (SLO) #2
Synthesize leadership principles within the practice of information and educational technology.
Reflection:
In this course we developed our leaderships capabilities through readings, in class and online discussions, leader interviews, and other activities. One of the greatest aspects of this course were the leader interviews because we were able to get insight into the lives of people already immersed in the field of Educational Technology. Some of the key aspects I picked up from this course are: the importance of building and maintaining a Personal Learning Network; finding the right leverage points to create system change; and anyone within an organization can create change and act like a leader whether are one or not. Leadership comes form anywhere within an organization and thus being a good leader is knowing when to create change and how to go about it.
The two artifacts I have chosen for this course are a group presentation on Organizational Change Models and my 1 Year Leadership Development Plan. I chose to include the Organizational Change Models presentation because it was a fun assignment while also teaching my peers and I about organization change. I included the Leadership Development Plan because I feel this assignment is a nice culmination of everything I learned while in this course.
Artifacts:
Organizational Change Models Presentation: (Prezi) (SLO #2)
Students were expected to create an interactive presentation on a topic in the field of educational leadership.
Leadership Development Plan (1 year): (SLOs #2 - #6)
Students were required to create a planning project from a group of options including a grant, 1 year leadership development plan, 2 year community partner plan, and 5 year technology use plan.
