Student Learning Outcome (SLO) #4

Reflection:
ETEC 510 was one of the first course I had the pleasure of taking upon acceptance into the MA in Educational Technology and Media Leadership program at California State University, Long Beach. As an introduction into the world of educational technology and media it provided the base knowledge needed for success in the remaining required curricula. Through a variety of readings, BeachBoard discussions, and other activities students were given insight into the world of educational technology and all the theories, trends, and new developments this new field has created.
To showcase my personal learning experience I have included two artifacts. The first is the presentation of a Literature Review I wrote discussing how students attitudes towards software piracy proliferates the overall issue. I chose this artifact because it showcases the beginning stages of my presentation process along with my first major literature review. The second artifact I chose was the required write-up after attending a professional development session. One of the largest take-aways form this entire program is the importance of constantly partaking in professional development as the field of educational technology is every changing. Due to this constantly changing environment professional development is mandatory to stay on top of the latest in the field, and this artifact shows my first educational technology conference.
Artifacts:
Literature Review Presentation: Students' Attitudes Towards Software Piracy Proliferate the Problem - presentation (SLO #4)
Literature reviews are an important aspect of the Educational Technology program and in this particular assignment we were asked to review a topic of interest when dealing with technology in education. Additionally, students were expected to present their research and findings. This review is about the ever growing issue of youth software piracy and how attitudes about software piracy are the bulk of the problem.
SDCUE Conference PD - write-up (SLO #4 & #6)
Students were expected to attend a professional development session in the field of educational technology. The style of professional development could have been going to a conference or attending a webinar. Once complete with the session students were asked to write a summary of the experience.
