ETEC 570 - E-Learning Design and Development
Introduction to e-learning design and development, including project management, instructional analyses and strategies, software selection, and evaluation. Interactive multimedia development applications, processes, and principles. Design and production of technology-enhanced instruction.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) # 3 & #6
SLO #3
Apply instructional design principles to design and develop educational materials.
SLO #6
Locate, assess, and apply online resources to create learning experiences.
Reflection:
I learned a great deal in this course about the various aspects of creating good instructional design. Between the creation of goals, objects, activities, and assessment through smaller course projects we slowly learned how to incorporate each of these very important aspects of a good e-learning design. The text book was well written and very thorough covering every aspect of e-learning in great detail with amazing examples throughout. The real test in this class was a creation of an online course that met the criteria of good e-learning design.
The two artifacts chosen for this course are the final product for the online course project and a screencast of an introduction to a virtual museum. I chose to use the screencast because it introduces an activity that virtually takes students out of the classroom and breaks up the possible mundane nature of a lecture intensive course. Additionally, virtual museums are a newer tool whose potential has not yet been tapped for e-learning. I included the culminating course project because includes examples of the various smaller activities we created throughout the course. It is the best example of everything taught in this course.
Artifacts:
Course Design: Sociology 101 (SLO #3 & #6)
Students were expected to create the first few months of an online course, using any course building site. The course had to meet all the various design principles stated in the course textbook.
Museo Galileo - Screencast about Virtual Museums. (SLO #5)
Students were asked to research and introduce the class to a virtual museum that could be used in education.
