Reflection:
During the first semester of the 2013-2014 school year I had the privilege of taking ETEC 523 with Mrs. Vasilomanlakis, who was new faculty to the program. I absolutely loved this course as I was given the opportunity to work with and use a wide range of online tools in educational ways. By using these various tools students were able to learn about potential issues with using the tool. Overall this course was the one where I got the most out of the hands on aspects in the activities and was able to really connect to the material.
For this course I chose to include a wide range of artifacts because of how much was done throughout the course. The first artifact is a copy of my BYU Copyright 101 Certificate because it showcases my understanding of copyright laws and proper use principles. My second artifact was the final project for the course where students were asked to create an ePortfolio showcasing our knowledge of the I.S.T.E standards, a key component to understanding information and digital literacy. The third artifact is a podcast created to educated teens on what being a good digital citizen meant. While this was my second podcast in the program, this was the first time I created a podcast I could use in my profession. The fourth artifact is a VoiceThread which I included because it showcases my ability to create a collaborative lesson using a unique and new web 2.0 tool. The last artifact I included was a lesson using the tool PowToon and I included it because I wanted to show the versatility in the course activities.
Artifacts:
BYU Copyright 101 Certificate: (SLO #1 & #5)
Students were expected to complete the BYU Copyright Certification course in order to become better acquainted with copyright laws.
I.S.T.E Standards within ePortfolio (SLO #3, #5,#6)
The course final project was to create an ePortfolio that met the I.S.T.E. Standards. The ePortfolio was to include the various assignments completed in this course as well as past courses.
Podcast: Digital Citizenship for Teens (SLO #1, #2, #5)
Students were expected to create a podcast that specifically educated a target audience (adults, teens, preteens) on what it meant to be a digital citizen.
Photoshop: Does it Affect Who We Are? (VoiceThread): (SLO #5, #6)
Students were required to create a VoiceThread on any topic of choice. Lastly, students were expected to participate in different peer VoiceThreads.
Lesson on Distance Rate Time Word Problems: (PowToon) (SLO #3, #5)
Students were required to create a lesson using PowToon, an automated presentation program.
