ETEC 695 - Seminar in Educational Technology
Studies in educational technology including reviews of literature, critique of educational technology research, and systematic development and evaluation of areas of students- prior work.
Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
This culminating course includes a review of all the SLOs as students prepare for the comprehensive exams.
Reflection:
This course reviewed all the material covered throughout the Educational Technology Masters program assisting with student preparations for their comprehensive exams. These comprehensive exams determine if a student has sufficiently learned the material required to earn a degree in Educational Technology. Thanks to the presentations and annotated bibliography created by various groups I was fully prepared for my comprehensive exams resulting in passing scores. Without this course I am not sure I would have passed as I am known to procrastinate, and by taking this course I was forced to study throughout the months leading up to the exams. I am very grateful for all the group presentations that took place in this course.
The two artifacts I chose are both related to my groups presentation on the Social and Cultural Perspectives learned in various courses throughout the entire program. The first artifact is the mind map that was turned into a ThinkLink for student reviewing needs. This mind map took the key concepts of our groups topic and connected them for easy use. The second artifact was the presentation used for our topic. This is a more in depth break down of the various texts and articles we annotated for the annotated bibliography. Just be creating these items I felt extremely prepared for any question that might have come from the Social and Cultural readings.
Additionally I have included my Comprehensive Exam as an artifact, but the document for what I hope are obvious reasons will not be posted online. This exam was my validation for all of my hard work during this entire program. It was the culmination of everything learned over the course of the 2 year program. Going into the exam I was scared but felt prepared. After spending a total of 15 hours on 3 essays I uploaded my responses confident that I had passed. And I did! Learning of my passing on this very difficult and important exam was a wonderful moment I will remember for the rest of my life. Learning I had passed gave significance to everything I had done. I am very happy with my choice to take the comps over the other two options, it was definitely the right for me and my schedule.
Artifacts:
Comprehensive Exams:
Student are expected to pass three 1000 word essays as a measurable form of verification of material learned over the course of the Educational Technology and Media Leadership program.

For both the ThinkLink and the Presentation: In groups, students were given one of 4 over arching themes from the Educational Technology program to create a review presentation, annotated bibliography, and mind map to prepare for comprehensive exams.
