Mission Statement
As an educator, librarian, and education technology specialist it is my utmost goal to inspire today’s youth to be great and to create positive hardworking functional citizens. With this goal in mind I intend to integrate technology when applicable to assist in the education of all students. It is my duty to open the eyes and ears of all to the many possibilities the world has to offer through educational technology as well as through more traditional means.
In addition, as an educational technology specialist, and librarian, it is my mission to be proficient and knowledgeable in current and/or emerging technologies through various professional development opportunities. This includes being a lifelong learner in the areas of education, pedagogy, and technology. My mission is to assist in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials through collaboration with school administrators, faculty, and staff. I strive to be the driving force behind the integration of educational technologies in the curriculum wherever pertinent in a seamless, useful, and meaningful way with the overall goal of student success in mind. My mission is to ensure, in this ever advancing technological world, faculty and administration meet the learning and instructional needs of the student body while simultaneously meeting the needs set forth by the government and school districts. I hope to do this by providing professional development on the most up-to-date skills and tools for creating a challenging, interactive, dynamic and innovative learning environment. |
PhilosophyIn this Age of Technology I believe it is imperative for educators of all levels to incorporate educational technologies into their instruction. In a time where technology has embedded itself in nearly every aspect of our lives, and society, introducing students to its proper use and even allowing them to create their own understanding through various experiences is key to their success in the world. On the other hand, just putting technology into instruction with no planning is not in the best interest of the student or the school. Therefore, I believe it is important to incorporate technologies in a meaningful and purposeful way throughout and not just intermittently.
Furthermore, introducing educational technologies into the classroom should be about making lessons more efficient for a wide range of learners. Thus, the first aspect of introducing educational technologies is to create Digital Literacy, and Digital Citizenry, among the staff, faculty, and students. So, while using educational technologies is important to enhancing the learning experience it is also important to ensure students learn how to use these tools outside of the classroom as well. |
